National Housing Day: Home is…building a better future, together
On November 22, join us in recognizing the importance of housing and building a better future, together.
Since 2000, Canada has recognized November 22 as National Housing Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness about housing and homelessness.
As we observe National Housing Day, we recognize the critical need for collective action to ensure all Canadians have access to a safe and affordable place to call home.
National Housing Day also calls on the entire housing sector to unite in developing impactful solutions. This includes governments, financial organizations, developers, communities, Indigenous and other partners coming together to make intentional changes that address the housing needs of all Canadians.

Building a more resilient Canada
National Housing Day highlights the fundamental role that housing plays in our lives. A home is not just a shelter — it's the foundation of a stronger and safer Canada where everyone can live with dignity. It's a place that enables people to thrive, maintain employment, learn and grow and participate fully in society. However, too many Canadians face significant barriers in securing housing. Vulnerable populations, including racialized households, single-parent households and seniors living alone struggle to access safe and affordable housing.
Building a better future together
Working together is at the centre of how we collaborate with partners from across the entire housing sector to address Canada's housing challenges.
We provide lenders with reliable housing financing solutions.
We work with the housing sector to deliver programs on behalf of the government.
We share research, data and information needed to inform Canada's housing system.
These pillars form the foundation for building a stronger housing system and a better future for all Canadians…together.
